This Web site is part of an Alternatives Analysis Study that is currently underway. The Study will determine whether Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) or some other transit approach is the best suited for transportation needs in the corridor. The study results will be used to apply for federal funding at the study’s completion. Improved transit in these corridors was a prominent feature in Overland Park’s Vision Metcalf and Mission’s Gateway redevelopment studies. A primary transit spine in these corridors, connecting with other transit routes, is a significant component of Johnson County Transit’s Strategic Plan. Overseeing the study is a team comprised of technical staff from Johnson County Transit, the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority, the City of Mission, the City of Overland Park, the Kansas Department of Transportation and the Mid-America Regional Council. The Study is being paid for primarily with federal funds along with funding from Johnson County Transit and the cities of Mission and Overland Park. This alternatives analysis is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2011. Final reports will be made to the City of Overland Park, the City of Mission, the Johnson County Transportation Council and the Johnson County Board of Commissioners in mid-2011. Overland Park Links:
