The JO - Special Edition - Premium Service
In January 2006, Johnson County Transit implemented The JO-Special Edition Premium Reservation Service. The premium reservation service idea originated from Special Edition clients like yourself during several public meetings held in 2002 regarding Special Edition fare increases. Clients had expressed their frustration with the call-in reservation system utilized by Special Edition. Since the rider reservation system is based on a first call – first scheduled ride process, clients concerns included:
- The burdensome need to call in and schedule regular rides
- Accessing the reservation system
- Reliability
After listening to clients’ concerns and support for the service, JCT implemented the Premium Reservation Service that would allow Special Edition clients who are regular riders (3, 4 and 5 days a week) to schedule a month’s worth of service - as long as it did not deviate from their current schedule. Benefits of the Premium Reservation Service are:
- Riders will not need to call every other week to request ride reservations. Riders will only need to call and cancel unwanted or un-needed trips at least 2 hours in advance of their pick-up. Cancelling these unnecessary trips at least two hours in advance allows other Special Edition clients to access trips in place of your un-needed trip. Premium Reservation Service riders are also asked to provide advance notice of trip cancellations for vacation or other durations to allow other clients to access the service.
To cancel a trip, please call 913-362-3500. If it is necessary to cancel an early morning pick-up (any trip scheduled for a pick up prior to 8:00 AM), call 913-362-3500 and leave your cancellation on the answering machine.
- No fare card or pass is necessary.
- Instead of paying each time a ride is taken, riders will be charged monthly fees in advance of the service and must be paid on time to access the service.
Riders must pay for service regardless of usage – this includes vacation, sick leave or an extended leave period. Riders will also be charged for any additional trips in the event of a ‘No Show’ (see No Show Policy statement on the following page).
If you choose to discontinue or suspend your Premium Reservation Service, there is no guarantee that you will be reinstated to the service at a later date. Reinstatement to the Premium Service will be contingent upon your trip time, your trip frequency, and availability of the service.
No Show and Suspension Policies still apply.
